Business Management

Measure first. Then decide.

Most manufacturing companies have the skills. What they often lack is a stable, repeatable and measurable way of working. We standardize technical and production workflows, measure work by phase and turn opinions into decisions based on numbers.

What we do

From quotation to shipment.

Workflow standardization

Clear responsibilities, shared standards and clean hand offs between sales, engineering, purchasing and production.

Measurement by phase

Every work phase is measured accurately and honestly, so you can see where time is lost, plan the right improvements and check that they really work.

Make or buy decisions

Making a part in house is not always the best choice, and neither is outsourcing it. Deciding case by case what makes sense is key to keeping a job profitable and meeting delivery dates.

Master and variants

Products and projects organized as a controlled master with variants, so repeat jobs stop starting from scratch.

Change management

Modifications classified by impact and notified to every function involved. No more changes on the fly.

Plant management

Experience leading plants and standardizing workflows in Italy, Ukraine and the United States, from family run job shops to companies with more than a thousand employees.

Case

Repetitive steel fabrication: around 40% lower cost.

The problem

A family of repetitive fabrication jobs looked barely profitable. Everyone had a different explanation: some blamed the selling price, some the shop, some the customer.

The measurement

Hours were measured phase by phase. For the first time it was clear where the cost was really concentrated.

The decisions

Make or buy on selected parts, assembly in series and semi automatic welding on the repetitive operations.

The result

The cost of that job family dropped by around 40%. The number matters, but the method matters more.

If you measure, you can decide. If you don’t, you can only hope.Giovanni Commodaro

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does payment work?

First we agree together on the scope of work, the phases and the price. Each phase is paid in full before it starts: no work begins until it has been paid.

It is a matter of commitment, on both sides. A company that is not ready to pay is usually not ready to change yet: a change process should start with full conviction, or not start at all.

During the project we will ask you to introduce modifications and to change the way you work. It is right to ask for that with only the result in mind, without it turning into a question of money. And with the phase already paid, the work does not stall at the first emergency: a job to deliver, then a delayed installation, then another urgent matter.

Where do we start?

With one concrete process, usually the one that costs you the most or causes the most trouble today. We measure it phase by phase, see where time and margin are lost and agree on the actions together. Then we move on to the next one.

Who needs to be involved in the company?

Management and the people who do the work every day. Rules and standards are built with those who will apply them, otherwise they stay on paper.

Do we need management software to measure the phases?

Not to get started. What matters is that the measurement is real and honest; the tool comes later, once it is clear what needs to be measured.

Do you also work with companies without ISO 9001?

Yes. Standardizing and measuring helps any manufacturing company, certified or not. And if you decide to get certified later, this work will already be a solid foundation.
